Julian somewhat stumbled into the world of private equity after completing an undergraduate degree in Spanish by joining the start-up that launched Unquote – one of the UK’s first dedicated private equity newsletters – in the early 1990s. He now has well over 30 years of experience in the European private equity and venture capital market as a journalist, business development manager and data/research expert.
Before joining Actum in September 2025, he had played a core role in the PE-specific content and data output at the likes of Unquote, Incisive Media, Mergermarket/Ion Group and Real Deals Media and now specialises in researching later stage PE activity in Continental Europe and in the dark art of estimating EVs for European PE deals where financials have not been disclosed.
